1. Who operates SafeDiff

SafeDiff is operated by Kartik, an individual operating from India ("SafeDiff", "we", "us", or "our").

SafeDiff is an independent product and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by, or operated by Shopify Inc.

2. What this Privacy Notice covers

This Privacy Notice explains how information is handled when you visit, purchase, activate or use SafeDiff.

SafeDiff has been designed to minimize the amount of information transmitted to us.

In particular, catalogue CSV files used for SafeDiff preflight analysis are designed to be processed locally in your browser.

3. Catalogue files

When you select a Current Catalogue CSV or Proposed Update CSV for analysis, SafeDiff processes the file in your browser.

SafeDiff does not intentionally upload the raw contents of those catalogue CSV files to our application servers for analysis.

Raw CSV files are not intentionally stored in our server-side database because SafeDiff does not currently operate a customer catalogue database.

If you use Fix Mode, your corrections are applied in your browser to a working copy of the proposed file. The working copy and any revised CSV you download are not uploaded to SafeDiff's servers or saved in local history; they exist only in your open browser tab until you download them or close the tab.

You remain responsible for ensuring that you have the right and authority to use any information contained in files you analyse with SafeDiff.

SafeDiff is intended for product and catalogue information. You should not use SafeDiff to process customer lists, payment-card information, passwords, health information, government identifiers, or other sensitive personal information.

4. Information stored locally on your device

SafeDiff may store certain information locally in your browser so that the application functions properly.

This can include:

• theme and appearance preferences;
• sidebar preferences;
• project names;
• preflight names;
• file-name metadata;
• your stated change intent;
• risk and report summaries;
• report findings;
• local project organization; and
• license or entitlement state where applicable.

SafeDiff uses browser technologies such as local storage and IndexedDB for these purposes.

Raw uploaded CSV files are not intentionally retained as part of SafeDiff's saved preflight history.

Local information remains on your device until it is deleted through SafeDiff, removed through your browser, or otherwise cleared by your browser or device settings.

Your browser, operating system, browser-sync provider or device administrator may independently process or synchronize browser data according to their own settings and policies. SafeDiff does not control those services.

5. License activation information

When you activate a SafeDiff license, you may provide:

• your email address;
• a license key; and
• technical information necessary to verify the license.

This information is used to verify your entitlement to paid SafeDiff features and to prevent unauthorized license use.

SafeDiff currently does not require a traditional user account for normal application use.

To verify a license, SafeDiff's server sends the license key and an activation name ("SafeDiff Browser") to Lemon Squeezy's license service and receives the license status, the purchased product and the purchase email. SafeDiff compares that email with the email you entered and does not store either.

A necessary entitlement cookie may be placed in your browser after successful activation. It contains your plan, a license reference, an activation reference and timestamps, not your email address, license key or payment details. SafeDiff checks the license status with Lemon Squeezy at most about once a day so that refunded or disabled licenses stop working.

6. Purchase information

Purchases may be processed through a third-party Merchant of Record such as Lemon Squeezy.

The payment provider may collect information such as:

• your name;
• email address;
• billing information;
• country;
• transaction information;
• payment method information;
• tax-related information; and
• order identifiers.

SafeDiff does not receive or store your full payment-card number.

We may receive limited transaction information necessary to identify a purchase, issue or verify a license, provide support, prevent fraud, or comply with legal obligations.

The payment provider processes payment information according to its own terms and privacy notice.

Lemon Squeezy may send SafeDiff's server order and license notifications (webhooks), for example when an order is refunded. SafeDiff uses them only to keep license status accurate and does not store them.

7. Support communications

If you contact SafeDiff for support, we may process information you voluntarily send to us, including:

• name;
• email address;
• message contents;
• screenshots;
• diagnostic information; and
• attachments.

Do not send confidential catalogue data or personal information unless it is necessary to resolve your support request.

8. Technical and hosting information

SafeDiff may be hosted through third-party infrastructure providers.

Those providers may automatically process limited technical information needed to deliver and secure the website, including:

• IP address;
• request time;
• browser or device information;
• requested URL;
• security events; and
• ordinary server or infrastructure logs.

SafeDiff does not currently use this information for behavioural advertising.

9. Analytics and advertising

SafeDiff does not currently use behavioural advertising, cross-site tracking or advertising-profile cookies.

We do not sell personal information.

We do not use uploaded catalogue contents to train artificial-intelligence models.

If we introduce non-essential analytics, advertising or tracking technologies in the future, this Privacy Notice and any necessary consent mechanism will be updated before those technologies are enabled.

10. Why information is processed

Where applicable, SafeDiff processes personal information for purposes including:

• providing and operating SafeDiff;
• verifying paid licenses;
• completing and supporting purchases;
• responding to support requests;
• maintaining application security;
• preventing fraud or abuse;
• complying with legal obligations; and
• protecting our rights and the rights of users.

Depending on applicable law, the corresponding legal basis may include performance of a contract, legitimate interests, compliance with legal obligations, or consent where consent is required.

11. Service providers

Information may be processed by service providers necessary to operate SafeDiff, including providers of:

• website hosting and infrastructure;
• payment and Merchant-of-Record services;
• email and customer support; and
• security or operational infrastructure.

These providers process information according to their own contractual and legal obligations.

SafeDiff does not authorize service providers to use your raw catalogue files for independent marketing purposes.

12. International processing

SafeDiff is operated from India.

Some infrastructure, payment or support providers may process information in other countries.

Those countries may have different data-protection laws from your country.

Where applicable law requires safeguards for international transfers, we will use legally recognized transfer mechanisms or rely on the relevant provider's compliant transfer arrangements.

13. Retention

SafeDiff follows a data-minimization approach.

Raw catalogue CSV files are not intentionally retained by SafeDiff servers as part of ordinary preflight analysis.

Locally saved preflight history remains in your browser until you delete it or clear relevant browser data.

Payment and transaction information held by a Merchant of Record is retained according to that provider's legal and contractual retention requirements.

Support communications may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to resolve the request, maintain business records, prevent abuse, establish or defend legal claims, or meet legal obligations.

We do not retain information longer merely because it might be useful someday.

14. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, privacy law may provide rights relating to your personal information, including rights to request:

• access;
• correction;
• deletion;
• restriction;
• portability;
• objection to certain processing; or
• withdrawal of consent where processing is based on consent.

You can remove SafeDiff's local report history from the application or through your browser settings.

For payment information controlled by the Merchant of Record or another payment provider, certain requests may need to be made directly to that provider.

Nothing in this notice limits rights that applicable law does not permit you to waive.

15. Security

SafeDiff uses reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the nature of the service.

The local-browser architecture is intended to reduce unnecessary transmission of catalogue information.

However, no website, browser, device or internet transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

You are responsible for securing your own device, browser, files and access credentials.

16. Children

SafeDiff is designed for business and professional ecommerce use.

SafeDiff is not intended for children under 18, and we do not knowingly seek personal information from children for account or commercial use.

17. Changes to this Privacy Notice

We may update this Privacy Notice when SafeDiff's features, providers or legal obligations change.

The effective date at the top of the notice will be updated when material changes are made.

Where legally required, additional notice will be provided.
